Summary: Typed copies of letters, some serving as reports, 1863-1866, written by John A. Clark, Surveyor General of Arizona and New Mexico, to J.M. Edmund, General Land Office Commission and to Arizona Governor Richard McCormick. The letters report on traveling through southern Arizona past Tucson, to Wickenburg, and to Prescott, Arizona mentioning arable lands, mining ventures, and travel and living conditions. He briefly mentions the Cerro Colorado Mines, Santa Rita Mining Company, the Heintzelman Mine, San Xavier Mission, Tucson, Wickenburg, and the Vulture Mine and Prescott, Arizona. The original letters were copied in Santa Fe, New Mexico, possibly at the Fray Angelico Chavez Library, Palace of the Governors Museum of New Mexico where Clark's diaries are located.
